About Us

As the music ministry of the Society of Pilar's Goa Province, the Pilar Music Academy is a charitable institution devoted to preserving Goa's unique musical heritage, fostering young talent and projecting the Society's missionary charism. It serves as an academic umbrella for the Society's four music schools at Pilar, Porvorim, Margao and Sanguem. The first music school was started in Pilar in 1978.

Established in 2011, the Academy now offers a comprehensive curriculum in various music genres, with 45 qualified teachers guiding over 900 students. It offers formal training in violin, keyboard, guitar, drums, wind instruments, solfeggio, theory of music and singing.

Through Trinity College Examinations, the Academy enables students to obtain international music diplomas, opening doors to music-focussed careers. Additionally, Goa's vibrant entertainment and tourism industry provides ample employment opportunities for musicians.

The Academy's 'Nightingale of Goa' initiative promotes original Konkani songs, while its YouTube channel, 'Pilar Music Academy,' showcases Goa's rich cultural heritage.
